About Us News What We Do Clients Research
Research & Development

We strive to lead by our own example.  While many “talk about sustainability” and debate what it means, few have demonstrated to us that they know how to “do sustainability”.  At An Meá we constantly wrestle with how to create more effective tools and techniques for improving the way businesses, regulators and the community implement social and environmental management. Our aim is to demonstrate to others, by the way we run our own business, that commercial success can be achieved directly through social and environmental innovation.

To make any headway in tackling today’s social and environmental problems, there is an urgent need for all groups to be constructive and creative.  An Meá is privileged to work with a wide range of stakeholders that includes multinational corporations, key community groups and academic institutions – each with their own distinctive, and sometimes conflicting, views and ideas.  Their diversity of thought drives our creativity.  Our broad network also enables us to involve others who may add value in developing innovative concepts, and to develop the intellectual property co-operatively with them.

Our research projects include:

Environmental Management System Auditing for Oil & Gas Industry Managers
Developed in partnership with Kingdom Management Training in the UK, this unique product was assessed and certified by the Quality Society of Australasia (QSA) in March 2001 as meeting the auditing training requirements for Environmental Auditor Certification with QSA and then successfully launched to market.

On-line Annual Report
An Meá teamed up with Reading Room, a company specialising in business-to-business web design and systems integration, to design and publish our 2001 – 2002 Annual Report in a unique format on the Internet.  Developed as a model to show others how we believe public reporting should be done, the Corporate Environmental Campaign Coordinator from the Total Environment Centre commented “your report seems to be one of the best I've seen. It's refreshing to see a report that acknowledges areas where improvement could be made”.

"Haz & Zard in the Office and Urban Environment” Hazard Awareness and Risk Management Activity
Developed in 2003 by our Managing Director- An Meá (W.A.), Dr. Graham Marshall, with the support of Woodside Energy Ltd., this unique hazard management training kit provides a facilitated adult learning process which actively engages people in thinking about risk management and working out solutions for themselves.
