An Meá Publishes 2009-2010 Performance and 2010-2011 Targets
26 Jul 2010

An Meá has published its Group Business Performance for 2009-2010, and Group Objectives and Targets for 2010-2011.

Seán O’Donnell, Executive Chairman comments, “We recognise that open and transparent communication with interested parties is fundamental to building their trust and respect. We therefore openly provide information about our business, including publishing the targets we set for ourselves and reporting our performance against those targets.” For more information, refer to our disclosure matrix.

Although the global economic climate remained challenging during the 2009 – 2010 year, we chalked up several significant accomplishments. We are very proud of this. Some of these include:
  • Penetrating the Western Australian market (primarily oil and gas) at all levels of the supply chain (i.e. major operators; large EPC contractors; small contractors)
  • Diversifying our client base in Western Australia across various industry sectors (several oil and gas clients; electricity supplier; construction contractors)
  • Continuing our relationships with existing major clients (Shell Development Australia; WorleyParsons)
  • Developing new relationships with major players in the oil and gas sector (Chevron; Total; Talisman Energy)
  • Entering the Queensland Coal Seam Gas market and providing services to key players in this market (QGC; Arrow Energy)
  • Developing two new Haz & Zard products (The Hazard Management Game; Hands On Safety training)
  • No breaches of our Business Principles
  • No Lost Time Injuries for the 13th consecutive year
  • Continuing our funding of Wakakirri, extending a relationship that has lasted for more than 11 years and has been responsible for several hundred thousand Australian school children learning about sustainability

Unfortunately, we did not meet all of our targets. We did not perform as well as we had hoped in the following areas:
  • Profitability
  • Shareholder returns
  • Development of internal systems of control for our company
  • Sales revenue from Haz & Zard products

A detailed view of An Meá Group performance against Objectives & Targets in 2009-2010 can be found here.

For the 2010-2011 year, we have set some aggressive and exciting targets. These include:
  • Transferring our base to from Sydney to Perth
  • Opening an office in Brisbane

You can find a complete description of our Objectives and Targets for 2010 – 2011 here.

Steve Williams, Managing Director, comments, “On reflection we have had some wins, and a few losses. However, in many ways of looking at it, our business has never been in a stronger position. We feel that we are on the verge of capitalising on the hard work that we have put in over the last couple of years to weather the financial storm that has been blowing around us. We feel that things are beginning to turn around. We are now well positioned in growing markets. We have the necessary skills and experience. Our staff are second to none, and we have worked hard to retain them. We have a diverse client base across a range of industry sectors. The future is looking bright. Our business plan is both exciting and challenging.”
