Snowy River Shire is located on the Southern Tablelands of NSW, Australia with an area of 6,059 square kilometres. In 2001 the permanent population was 7,727 and is steadily increasing. Population growth of 20% between 1997 and 2001 makes the Shire one of the fastest growing regions in the state. Tourism and the ski industry are the most important economic factors within the Shire, with nearly 50% of total employment being in service industries.
